Bank Holiday Survival Guide
The Easter weekend is nearly here and we can’t wait. Four days off work, quality family time and an endless supply of chocolate – absolute bliss…
Or is it? To put it another way, that’s sugar-induced children, excitable in-laws, and no time for brew-rounds – HELP!
Fear not, to help you through the weekend, we’ve put together a survival list. Whether you’re going away or staying at home, it’s certain to help you enjoy an (almost) stress-free weekend.
Timing is everything
When it comes to going away, every year you tell yourself you won’t do it again, and then what do you know? 12 months later you’re sat in the car, scratching your head, wondering how you ended up in the traffic jam of doom once again.
Well, this year it’s time to change. Make sure you set off earlier or hold-off until later. Whatever you do – we forbid you from joining the after-work crowd!
Download a traffic monitoring app such as ‘Beat the Crowd’ to ensure a smooth ride.
Save time
Speaking of timing, be sure to maximise your time wherever you can.
Try putting newspapers at the bottom of your bin (say goodbye to bin juice problems), utilising your dishwasher for more than just plates, or using the Vileda VR101 to do the work whilst you enjoy a nice hot bath.
Be prepared
There’s more chance of children taking on the household chores than surviving the weekend without a few spills on the kitchen floor this Easter.
Whether it’s the 3Action broom to clear dirt and dust in one sweep, or the Easy Twist flat mop with a built-in wringing mechanism, be sure to stock up before the Easter weekend.

Keep it simple
When it comes to food, keep it simple. You might think it’s all about the extravagant Sunday Roast with all the trimmings, but a stress-free household tastes better than any roast potato ever could.
And remember, simple doesn’t have to mean boring.
ProperFoodie* has some great hassle-free but show-stopping recipes. Prep the night before with this slow cooker Turkey Tagine – swap the Turkey for Lamb for a Moroccan take on the classic Easter dish. If you have time, freezing home-made soup beforehand can be a life saver. Surprise the family with this Purple Broccoli and Pear recipe – Nigella eat your heart out!
Take a breather Â
With young children and lot’s of entertaining to do, it can all get a little too much.
Feeling stressed? Grab your coat and get outside. Fresh air can help with everything from blood pressure, mental health, energy levels and your immune system.
Make sure you get at least 20 minutes outside a day and you’ll come back feeling refreshed and ready to go.
Start your day right
Easter is a time to celebrate and (more often than not) indulge.
Don’t worry; we’re not here to judge. But start each day with hot lemon water, make sure you’re having plenty of Vitamin C and stock up on bananas for natural energy.
