You have no items in your basket!
If you know that your house is in need of a thorough clean but don’t quite fancy dedicating a whole 24 hours to it then you’ve come to the right place.
We’ve broken your spring clean down into 7 tasks that can easily be spread throughout the week. Then it’s just a case of little and often to make your spring clean last until summer!
And seeing as Vileda’s newest product, the SuperMocio 3 Action XL Mop, has been crowned the rock star of cleaning, we’ve also paired each task with a suitable song to give you some musical motivation.
Monday: Little Mix “Shout Out to my Ex” – say goodbye to old things!
We’re a nation of hoarders and easily build up a collection of unwanted items every year, from outgrown toys, last season’s clothes and worn furniture – it soon gets on top of us.
Go through each room and sort into 3 piles: Keep – used on a daily basis or has sentimental value? Then put (neatly) away, Maybe – Not worn or used yet this year? Then put away into a box or cupboard and if you don’t think about or use them in the next 3 months, it’s time to get rid, Throw – You guessed it, straight in the bin or, better still, send to your local charity!
Tuesday: Guns N’ Roses, “Sweet Child O’Mine” – treat you appliances.
General cleaning tasks are carried out every day, washing your clothes; vacuuming, disinfecting kitchen surfaces, the list goes on. Today, take time to clean your equipment. Switch off and clean all electrical items, stick your mop head in the washing machine and bleach your cloths.
Wednesday: Bon Jovi, “Livin on a Prayer” – scrub away to this classic.
When’s the last time you cleared out your cupboards and gave them a proper scrub?
Grab a microfiber cloth and go crazy. Pull out any big appliances like your fridge, oven and microwave and clean behind them – you’d be surprised how much dirt gathers behind those things! And don’t forget about all those nooks and crannies too, bet you didn’t think to clean inside the holes of a knife block did you?
Thursday: U2, “Beautiful Day” – prepare yourself for summer.
Be extra prepared for all those barbecues this year by cleaning your outside/patio furniture. Add a squirt of washing up liquid to a bowl of warm water, and then wipe down tables and chairs. Wash clean with a garden hose.
Friday: Queen and David Bowie, “Under Pressure” – Release your drain pressure
Your drains work hard on a daily basis. Mix half a cup of baking soda with a quarter cup of table salt. Pour the mixture down the drain along with 1 cup of heated white vinegar. The solution will start to foam and bubble, don’t be alarmed. Allow to sit for fifteen minutes and then rinse with your hot water tap – clean drains galore.
Saturday: The Darkness “I believe in a thing called love”- show your soft furnishings some love
A house isn’t a home without lots of rugs, curtains and pillows, so use your Saturday wisely and get to work!
Throw your pillow cases into the wash, being careful to have them on a low temperature setting/hand wash especially if you have any delicate materials.
Put your curtains on a delicate wash cycle too, or if you’re worried about shrinking then hand wash instead – better safe than sorry!
Vacuum your rug and treat any spots and stains with a specific stain remover. You may even want to rotate your rug to stop furniture marks forming.
Sunday: Adele, “Hello” – Don’t neglect daily items!
For the final day of Spring Cleaning Week, finish off with all those little jobs you probably never think of – cleaning your phone, your credit cards, the lining of your handbags and even your light switches.
